Today kicks off the RE-marketing of our 8th Carolina Indie Fest which, as you'll recall, was

cancelled due to lightning and storms. Which did not appear. Do'h! We've been waiting patiently, doing some retooling and are BACK with Carolina Indie Fest #8 coming up May 15-16th.

What's new? A lot. In fact, half the bands are different from the Fall edition. Somehow in the process we got even awesomer (is that a word?) between now and then. Among the artists new to this edition of Carolina Indie Fest are:

* Jo Gore - known in the Triangle area particularly for her strong, smooth and evocative vocals

* returning fan favorites Whoop (pop) and Effing and Blinding (rock)

* Spanish guitarist Eduardo de Rosamaria

* The Southern Brothas - their performance will be a mix of instruments, vocals and DJ

Carolina Indie Fest is all about a wide selection of genres, styles and artists - we're looking for the best all original music & these bands are among the 750-1000 bands (I'm sorry, I lost count) that applied in the last year through our website. It used to be we recruited all bands but we're fortunate there are many many great musical artists out there and they're finding us. Indie always gets high marks for putting great acts on stage and that is certainly the case again with this group.

What else is new? We have a cool collaboration to share in a week or two that was born out of necessity. Every Indie we sell shirts, it's part of how we pay for the event, but the shirts from last September are now terribly dated (literally) and half the bands have changed ... but we have a solution to keeping the Indie brand fresh and looking good this festival. Keep your ear to the track to learn more.

We have a new beer sponsor but will keep more details under wraps until they're ready to announce. Hugger Mugger Brewing really uses Indie as a way to collaborate on new and interesting styles and this one is no exception.

And, for the first time, we have playlists. The bands and links to their music have been on our website since Indie #2 but we haven't done playlists ... now you can find those on our website or we have links in our Insta bio. The playlists were created as a way to get you representative music from each artist, so they are around 30 minutes in length and include as many artists as were on the platforms we chose.

Those are the new things - something that has not changed is that Carolina Indie Fest is entirely sponsor driven. Our local businesses are making sure we all have a two day music event that's completely free. It's amazing and generous and they need to be thanked if you see them, please take close look at this poster so we give back to those who make events like this possible.

And with that we kick off the 8th edition of Carolina Indie Fest on May 15-16 - looking forward to seeing you there!
