Introducing ... Twurt Chamberlain
Hailing from Lexington, Mississippi, Twurt Chamberlain is joining Carolina Indie Fest this Fall. Twurt is an exciting musician - his songs have a lot of energy and there's an urgency behind them. It's not just the lyrics, those alone would mark him as a soulful rebel, it's also his melodies and vocals that are attention grabbing. He's a musician who won't let you be distracted by his music.
He's also the only musician to perform at Carolina Indie Fest who has a film titled "Country Punk Black" about he and his music. Produced by the University of Mississippi it follows Twurt's journey as an artist and where he hopes to take his music. Beyond the additional insight into this unique artist the fact that someone is producing a short film about him really underscores how interesting his approach to music really is.
Many Indie musicians perform some form of genre bending music, I believe the term "Americana" was coined as a catch-all this blending of genres and styles. Twurt uses blues, country, rock, some punk and rap to create his music. And it's not so much a blending of approaches as it is a set of tools used to craft a tune. It works, and I'm really looking forward to hearing it in person. Twurt Chamberlain takes the stage on Saturday, Sept 26th at 7:30pm.
