The free, fun music festival that is Carolina Indie Fest returns to downtown Sanford May 10th and 11th. This 4th annual event features 10 indie bands playing a variety of musical genres on stage on the lot behind Hugger Mugger Brewing (229 Wicker Street) in downtown Sanford.
This May's lineup features bands from Raleigh, Chapel Hill & Durham as well as more far flung locations like Nashville and Gatlinburg, TN and Dallas, TX. It's a diverse set of genres represented by these bands including Celtic rock, country, blues, pop and that elusive genre known as Americana. We have bands that have performed together for decades, some that are new to the scene and one who was a contestant on The Voice.
The Bands tab on this site will provide a full rundown of the bands, their set time and links to their music on different platforms. We will highlight individual songs from the artists on our website and Facebook starting Friday, March 22nd.
A big thank you to our artist, Corey Harmon, who continues to develop the concept of Indie Man and the artwork for the festivals (there's another coming in September!) This festival is a labor of love for all of us who help guide and develop it & we're grateful for Corey's creativity, patience and persistence.
And without our sponsors we would not be able to have a festival that is free to the public - this is not a common occurrence anymore so we are deeply thankful for those who help ring this festival to our community. That includes our presenting sponsor, Visit Sanford, our fest beer sponsors Wilkinson Chevrolet Buick GMC and Ting, and our beer garden sponsor Tacos El Primo which will have a fun promotion we will tell you more about in good time. VIP sponsors Windstream have been with us from the beginning, real estate and auction company Harris Realty took time from their busy year to sponsor the festival, our neighbor Raven Forge Games joined us last year in supporting this event and Craft 3D (who can make a fine tap handle) jumped onboard this year. Our shirt sponsors include Comfort First (thank you for loaning us Corey), Sanford Real Estate and all around swell guy John Ramsperger, as well as Express Employment Professionals (thank you Joe), Dan Martin Jewelers (thank you Dan) & Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) (thank you ... everyone!?) and Central Carolina Hospital (thank you Clinton!) Our other sponsors include the Hampton Inn, Bankers Insurance and Fidelity Bank. Thank you!
