There was a lot of change afoot for Carolina Indie Fest this summer including hiring a new sound & lights crew & a new designer. After a swing-and-a-miss with our first new designer (who was only interested in producing AI-generated images) we were fortunate to meet Ed Yancey through a friend.
Ed is located in northern NY and produces all manner of hand drawn work including adaptations from the Marvel Character Universe, horror and more. He's a traditionalist in a world of AI generated "stuff" and that's one place where we find common ground. I like his leggy interpretation of Indie Man, Ed's only the second designer to draw Indie Man and I love that he found a way to make Indie Man his own.
We do miss Corey Harmon who was the designer of record on Indie Fests 3, 4 and 5 but after hearing about Corey's summer adventures I'm glad he took the Fall off. Indie is it's own thing and the summer turnaround between May and September is intense and the deadlines can be unforgiving. Thankfully Ed survived it, if not thrived at it, and made us an Indie Man for the ages. Thanks Ed!
